July 14, 2011 was a day Sean and I will never forget. 2 lines on one test and a plus sign on the other indicated that our lives were going to change forever, we were pregnant! We were a little on the shocked side, considering we had only been "trying" for about 3 weeks. Of course, we were ecstatic and we could not wait to tell our friends and family! March 24, 2012 was the official due date and we had lots to do before the 9 months were up.
Fast forward to November 2nd and we found out our little bundle of joy was going to be a cute little boy! The name game started on that day and did not end until the second week of February! We went through so many names, had lists narrowed down, polled friends and family, and ended up using none of the original names! We finally agreed on Connor, due to the fact it was Irish (very important to Sean), it had 2 meanings - one hound lover (enough said if you know us), and strong will to desire.
We then had to agree on colors and theme for the nursery, that took some time as well, but it finally got done too. We used 2 different shades of blue on the wall, with a white chair rail in between. Our bedding is jungle themed, but not too crazy! We also got our furniture from Buy Buy Baby(thanks Grandma and Grandpa Cibley!)
Our first shower was February 4th and was thrown by our good friends Steffanie and Jack, Kimba and Dillon, Cara and Chris, and our brother and sister-in-law Jeff and Beth! We got tons of stuff and were completely overwhelmed with all the love and support!
We were living up the last couple of weekends as a couple without a child and were enjoying the time together. February 25th was going to be a crazy busy day! Breast feeding class in the morning and my other shower in the afternoon. The night before that we went to Mi Cocina to eat and went home for an early night. Who knew a few hours later at 4am, my water would break! We were not completely ready, but we composed ourselves and got everything we needed and headed to the hospital. Soon to be Grandpa James made arrangements to fly in and made it at 10am, my parents had just gotten done burying my grandma in Boston and were not able to get in until the 26th!
12 hours later at 5:45pm after only an hour of pushing, Connor Blake was born. He was 5 pounds 14 ounces and 18 inches long. He was born at North Hills Hospital in NRH, Texas. He was considered 37 weeks which of course was a little early. He was perfect and we are so thankful all turned out well.
I am now recovering after a few minor complications. Sean has been amazing and I have fallen in love with him even more seeing him as my care taker and as a dad. My parents and Sean's dad were amazing and helped us through the first few days. We are now on our own until my mom comes back Monday!
I plan to update this as often as I can. I am looking forward to being a full time mom and I think I am a natural so far! (=
